Leadership Cabinet

The World Council of Optometry (WCO) always needs volunteers who provide expertise, insight and hands-on assistance with our program initiatives. Therefore, the Leadership Cabinet has been developed with people who generously donate their time to advance world optometry and improve public health.

Volunteers play a vital role in our worldwide initiatives — from strategic planning to outcome assessment. For example, the World Conference on Optometric Education, held every four years, unites educators from around the world to share recent advancements and address future needs in optometric education. A steering committee of volunteers is responsible for essential tasks that make the program a landmark success. Volunteers determine program content, speaker selection, ancillary program components and evaluation mechanisms. The Fellowship Program relies on volunteer optometrists who share their time, knowledge and expertise to improve the delivery of eye and vision care in under-served communities.

Interested candidates may complete a Leadership Cabinet application form in order for the WCO to align interests and valuable expertise to the appropriate initiative.
